28 days - A magnificent trek to the world's highest unclimbed mountain - Pristine valleys - Outlandish villages - Staggering high mountain landscapes

This is Himalayan trekking at its very best, crossing 6 high passes (up to 5230m.) during a long and continuous traverse of the little-known Bhutanese region of Lunana. Starting out in the Punakha Gorge, the exotic forest scenery is a foretaste of the tremendous variety of trekking conditions that will be experienced on this challenging trip. We make a gradual ascent to the village of Laya (4000m.), close to the Tibetan border, before heading east on our high-level route into the lost world of Lunana. Highlights include, encounters with cheerful villagers and outrageous mountain panoramas, culminating in close-up views of remote Gangkar Puensum (7541m.), which remains the world's highest unclimbed peak. If you are looking for a supreme trekking adventure, in a high mountain wilderness which sees very few foreign visitors, then this is definitely one to put on your shortlist.

Brief Trip Outline & Notes
Day 1. Depart UK.
Day 2. Arrive Kathmandu. Transfer to Vaishali Hotel in Thamel. (Land only clients join at hotel).
Day 3. Morning free in Kathmandu. Fly to Paro, Bhutan (2250m). Drive to Thimphu.
Day 4. Drive to trailhead at Tashithang. Camp.
Days 5-9. Trek to Laya Village (400m).
Days 10-20. These days will be spent traversing the Lunana Distict of north central Bhutan. This is a remote and little-visited area of big mountains and beautiful valleys. We will be crossing a series of passes (4200 - 5230m), which offer tremendous views of the surrounding peaks.
Days 21-24. Trek to Jakar in the Bumthang Valleys.
Day 25. Drive to Wangdi. Local Lodge.
Day 26. Drive to Paro.
Day 27. Fly to Kathmandu. Free day in Kathmandu. Overnight at Vaishali hotel.
Day 28. Morning free. Afternoon depart Kathmandu. (Land only clients depart).
Day 29. Arrive UK.
