On the TRAIL of the SNOW LEOPARD - CONTACT US
13 days - Wildlife exploration in the Gobi Altai Mountains - Local naturalist guide (Mr G Amarsanaa) - A chance to get close to this most elusive of creatures - Remote and rarely-visited region
Found only in the most remote high mountain valleys of Asia, there are possibly as few as 6000 snow leopards remaining in the wild. One of the last strongholds of this enigmatic animal is the Gobi Altai in south-western Mongolia, an area where snow leopard research has been ongoing for two decades. Accompanied by a local scientist guide, we will visit this rugged wilderness region, meet the nomadic Mongolian herdsmen at their ger camps and have a week for exploration. Our guide's expertise will help us to gain a good understanding of these beautiful predators and their environment. We will undoubtedly find evidence of snow leopards (and their prey - argali and ibex) and may even be lucky enough to spot one of these secretive and supremely well-camouflaged cats. This is an opportunity to take part in an unusual expedition to a fascinating and rarely-visited corner of the world.
