An Introduction to Mongolia & Central Asia
Beyond the Himalayas, the continent of Asia extends almost without limit, east to west and northwards to the polar regions. Much of this enormous landmass is never visited by foreign travellers and the potential for adventure holidays in many states, provinces and even entire countries is completely unknown. We are steadily making inroads into this intriguing territory and our current collection of adventures includes tours, treks and climbs. Our superb K2-Chinese Side trek and the popular Mount Khuiten Climb in Mongolia are unchanged, whilst the remaining Mongolian and Central Asian options for this year are entirely new. First of these is an excellent 9-day adventure touring trip to Uzbekistan, which will focus on the fabled cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. In Mongolia, we will be running a reconnaissance trek into the centrally-located Khangai Mountains, a trip which promises splendid scenery and an insight into this fascinating country's cultural heritage. Another new and rather unusual Mongolian venture will explore the ranges of the Gobi Altai in the company of an expert naturalist guide - on the Trail of the Snow Leopard. Lastly, we have devised a pioneering 16-day trekking adventure in the formerly inaccessible volcanic wilderness of Kamchatka.
