18 days - A circuit of South Island's natural wonders - Queen Charlotte Sound coastal trails - Helicopter biking beneath Mount Cook - Ridge riding and long mountain track descents
Fast becoming the adventure capital of the world, South Island, New Zealand is the classic mountain biker's paradise, with a rare combination of spectacular coastal scenery and challenging mountain and off road routes. On this fabulous exploration we ride into the heart of the magnificent Southern Alps, along the sparkling blue coastline of Queen Charlotte Sound and into the rainforest of the "wild" west coast. Our route goes off road to reach isolated sheep stations, gold mining ghost towns and the foothills of dramatic peaks such as Mount Aspiring and Mount Cook. On our way, we can sample the famous Kiwi hospitality, chill out in the odd café and bar and even relax in hot thermal pools. The final leg of our journey leads us to Queenstown where we finish on a high, quite literally, with a fantastic day's helicopter biking, just below the snow line of the Southern Alps. A truly unforgettable end to a brilliant biking journey.
