An Introduction to North America
The
landscapes of North America are as varied as the continent is vast. In the
far north, ice bound mountains, lakes and rivers are the backdrop to a harsh
yet stunningly beautiful environment. Unique wildlife remains largely undisturbed
by man, who's impact is limited to isolated settlements, often 100's of
kilometres apart. In addition to our 2 longstanding trips to the Alaskan
Wilderness, this year sees the introduction of a superb new trek at the
northern edge of Baffin Island, deep within the Arctic Circle. The glacial
lakes and snow capped peaks of Canada's rocky mountains provide the setting
for another new trip, which combines trekking with an unforgettable 160
kilometre journey by Canadian canoe down the Athabasca River. Below the
49th Parallel the creature comforts of the 21st century become ever more
apparent, but the natural scenery remains no less spectacular. Our new holiday
to Yellowstone and the grand tetons offers excellent mountain walking and
the chance to explore the geysers, hot springs and unspoiled backcountry
of the world's oldest national park. Yet more contrasts can be found on
our new adventure touring holiday of America's Southwest, which starts out
in the awe-inspiring Yosemite Valley and includes the classic red-rock formations
of Utah and Arizona, such as Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Monument
Valley and the one site in the world guaranteed to take you breath away
- Grand Canyon.
