When Amanda Jackson set out for her first ever date with Jonathan Poulter, the last thing on her mind was the petrol crisis.

Amanda, new to Manchester, ran into trouble when just 20 minutes before meeting entrepreneur Jonathan for the first time, her luck ran out - literally on the forecourt, when she finally ran out of petrol after passing the sixth empty petrol station!

During the panic, Amanda telephoned the company who arranged her date, Manchester based, Select Personal Introductions, to explain the situation. Alex-who launched a Thunderbirds-style rescue operation said, "We knew that Amanda was looking forward to meeting Jonathan so we launched into action." In true Gerry Anderson style, Alex raced 25 miles across Manchester to bring the two together for their first date.

If all goes well, Amanda and Jonathan may well be jetting off to Tracy Island on Holiday.
